The Doctors uses ArcoStream to Spread the Message on Health Matters
Viewers can browse current and previous shows for medical advice
Redondo Beach, CA (July 22, 2009)
ArcoStream, a leader in streaming, caching, advertising, and encoding solutions, announced today that it is delivering online video content for The Doctors, a popular television show that features four doctors offering medical advice and the latest information on health, fitness and wellness.

THE DOCTORS premiered on September 8, 2008, and was an instant success. The show introduced an entirely new concept to the TV landscape; real doctors discussing medicine and health in a relatable fashion five days a week. The fastest-growing talk show on television, THE DOCTORS taped 180 original shows last season, covering the latest medical news in the headlines and the most cutting-edge medical procedures and health and fitness trends. Tuesdays became devoted entirely to the most popular segment of the series, "Ask Our Doctors." Nothing is off limits when the doctors answer the most important, and oftentimes embarrassing, questions from their viewers.

THE DOCTORS Web site, TheDoctorsTV.com, includes featured show content, procedure cam clips, daily Doctor's Orders video, as well as blogs and advice from the stars of the show -- four renowned physicians with different medical specialties - ER physician Dr. Travis Stork; OB/GYN Lisa Masterson; cosmetic surgeon Dr. Andrew Ordon and pediatrician Dr. Jim Sears.

"Using Internet video to spread the word on good health practices and to share medical knowledge is the perfect application", said Todd Loewenstein, CEO and Founder of ArcoStream. "Add to this a procedure cam where viewers can participate as if they were in the operating room themselves which is an application that lends itself well to this medium."

ArcoStream capabilities include the ability to serve all major formats, in live or on demand, through either its customized automated interface called CANDEE, or through a customer portal. CANDEE offers users the ability to upload content, transcode on the fly for free, publish a live stream, and to pay for their account using a credit card, without ever interacting with a salesperson. In addition, users can employ the ad server without having to commit to a large ad campaign which can cost tens of thousands of dollars per month with other providers.

"ArcoStream has been great to work with in terms of functionality for our content delivery," said Kristen Fischer, Director of New Media for The Doctors. "They got us up and running with an account in minutes, and we found that outsourcing our content delivery to them turned out to be the right choice. We had pretty heavy viewing on some of our recent television promotions. Since our main focus is producing content, not distributing it, the fit was natural."
